Barossa Icons Six Pack

In the early 1990s, a number of Barossa winemakers hit town with some stunning reds that really put the Barossa on the map as a region producing stunning reds.
Almost 20 years later, they are still producing great individual wines that set them apart from the larger companies that tend to dominate the Aussie wine scene with their huge inter-regional blends.
Some of them have left their original companies following the takeovers of recent years and struck out on their own. As well as the past, they represent the future for the Barossa Valley.

We have assembled a special selection of great Barossa reds from these six iconic winemakers:
BOB McLEAN, who at St. Hallett brought their famous Old Block Shiraz to the UK, bringing old vine Barossa Shiraz to the UK's notice. Bob is now based at his McLean's Farm vineyard, high in the Eden Valley, where his wines are attracting much acclaim,
CHARLES MELTON, whose Chateauneuf misnomer Nine Popes is regarded as Australia's best rhone-style red, is still producing a range of classic reds from his Krondorf road winery.
JOHN DUVAL produced Penfolds' flagship wine Grange from 1986 to 2002 and is now producing great old vine Barossa reds in his own right, at John Duval wines
ROBERT O'CALLAGHAN, at Rockford wines, has been producing great wines since the early 1980s from old vine vineyards which were once in danger of being pulled up.
STEVE HOFF, at Heritage wines, saved the Rossco's Vineyard from being built on for houses by promising to buy the grapes every year. Organically run, the vineyard now supplies his flagship wine, Heritage Rossco's Shiraz.
PETER SCHOLZ, the sixth generation to reside at Willows Vineyard, continues to produce sensational reds from the family's vineyard at Light Pass, in the eastern parts of the Barossa.
