THE STORY Eldredge Wines was established by Leigh and Karen Eldredge in 1994 when they renovated an 80 year old stone cottage to serve as cellar door and planted vines in this unique part of the Clare Valley. Varieties planted were Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon at varying aspects in the vineyards.
The vineyards are situated on the westernmost part of the Clare Valley at one of its highest points, up to 530 metres above sea level. The cool breezes which blow off St. Vincents Gulf protect the vineyards from the extremes of the hot climate. This combination of altitude and sea breezes lends cooler climate finesse to the typical Clare ripeness of fruit.
The winery has won a string of Gold Medals in recent years. It's Reisling has won Gold at the Adelaide Show, while both Cabernet Sauvignon and Blue Chip Shiraz have been Trophy winners and multi-Gold Medal winners
