Andrew Pirie, who pioneered wine in Tasmania at Pipers Brook in the 1970s, is now making fabulous wine - winning Gold Medals and Trophies in Australia and in the Decanter Awards in the UK.
The cool climate of Tasmania, where the average summer temperature is just 21C, is ideal for varieties such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
The exceptional fruit grown at the Devil's Corner and Kayena Vineyarda that forms the cornerstone of the Tamar Ridge awines. Located on the western banks of the Tamar River, 40 kilometres north of Launceston, the Kayena Vineyard is planted to a range of cool climate varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
