February Super 12 Wines

February Super 12 Tasting Notes
ALL REDS
Three bottles each of:
Primo Estate Shale Stone Shiraz 2018
This brilliant Shiraz marries the classic richness of Joe's McMurtrie Rd vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale with the perfume and mineral texture of the Shiraz growing in the shale stone of Joe's higher altitude Clarendon vineyard, which brings balance and depth to the layered fruit and spice. This is a wine that is both rich and savoury with a long, silky finish - fabulous now or stick it in the cellar for 8+ years.
S.C. Pannell Field Street McLaren Vale Shiraz
The Field Street Shiraz is made from fruit sourced from a single nine hectare vineyard, which faces west to the Gulf of St Vincent. The original Shiraz plantings date back to 1970. On the nose there is a lovely purity of fruit, aromas of violets are coupled with the beautiful perfume of a punnet full of fresh berries. The palate is medium to full-bodied with lovely, earthy tannins and a lifted finish.
Innocent Bystander Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2018
This wine is produced from a number of vineyards that span the Yarra Valley from Paul's Range at Dixons Creek in the north across to Bastard Hill in the very cool southern Upper Yarra.
This Pinot Noir has aromas of boysenberries, cherry and cranberry with earthy notes of dried spices. On the palate, this wine has a velvety mouthfeel with soft savoury tannins which make a lovely finish.
Tim Adams Reserve Cabernet Malbec 2012
Small parcels of outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, were co-fermented to produce a powerful, full bodied wine. Twenty-four months in new French oak provides spice and balance to the wine, which is dominated by fresh blackcurrant, capsicum and violet flower aromas and flavours.
Further tank and bottle ageing prior to release has melded all wine components to further enhance the prestige of this wine. Patient cellaring will be rewarded, with potential to improve up to 20 years if cellared in good conditions.
