HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - Decanter Magazine Australian Shiraz Tasting
"a very modern style that is deftly realised. The palate is consistent, with a lightness of touch in terms of ripeness and extraction, but no shortage of liquorice and natural plum fruit intensity. Drink 2017-2024"

One taster, a Master of Wine, higlighted this wine as one of his favourite wines in the tasting:
"A great example of how to provide intensity without huge concentration. All the character comes from the vineyard, and then gently taken through the winery, to give a transparent, classy wine still full of flavour."

Red-purple in colour. The nose has scents of freshly crushed ripe blackberries, dark plums and liquorice followed by some vanillin oak and pepper. The full bodied palate boasts a juicy rich flavours: fresh blackberries and plums followed by some liquorice, vanillin oak and blackpepper. The finish is rich and full. Cellar through to 2020.

"94 points. Dense crimson-purple; this is made in heaven for those looking for a full-bodied Shiraz that will repay cellaring. It ticks each and every box for that purpose, with clear cut varietal character at the warm end of the spectrum, blackberry, liquorice and pepper braced by ripe tannins. Terrificvalue." James Halliday
From a vineyard 40km south of Bendigo, near Maldon. Still beside the Loddon River, the soils here are rich in red clay and the climate a little cooler. Early results have given Peter Cummings just what he was looking for: a wine that is a little more elegant with more berry than plum fruit. This one’s a keeper.
