SILVER MEDAL International Wine Challenge 2015
" a unique blend of Grenache, Tempranillo and Malbec grapes has resulted in an astounding red that's full-bodied yet silky and alluring." Matthew Jukes (Daily Mail)
"Turbo-charged Aussie reds love barbecues, so tuck into this bargain beef, cedar and leather-scented 14.5 per cent hulk." Jane MacQuitty (The Times)

The Fergus is a legend - first produced in 1993 from neighbour Fergus Mahon's Grenache vineyard. The 2012 Fergus continues the lineage, predominately Grenache, with support roles by tempranillo, mataro and shiraz, all combining to form a spicy, juicy wine with lifted red berry aromas and flavours, grenache spiciness and given extra back palate firmness provided by the blending of the other varieties. It's medium weighted and superbly crafted to be a fantastic food partner, especially duck, lamb and gamey meats. Fergus will cellar patiently through to 2020.

The 2017 Pinot Gris displays opulent pear, lychee and peach flavours complemented by subtle citrus zest, fullness with fruit sweetness in the middle palate and cleansing acidity. A great food-wine; enjoy while it is young and vibrant, with Asian cuisine, seafood and salads. There certainly is no mistaking the variety in the bottle; this vintage is a classic example of Tim's chosen style.
Rather than removing the naturally occurring colour from ther Pinot Gris grapes, Tim chooses to retain it in the wine. The resultant slight rose-gold hue matches the equally rich and robust fruit characters on the palate, demonstrating what has been a fruit-rich vintage.

"Special Value. Sourced from a number of vineyards at various locations, this year including gaining two new compnents: the Skilly Ridge Vineyard and a high vineyard at Penwortham. Bright, crisp and with the hallmark Clare Valley length; lemon blossom and lemon flavour is the fulcrum for both present and future enjoyment, the zesty finish another plus." James Halliday
"Nab this stylish summery sip and revel in its rich, leafy, kerosene-spiced fruit." Jane MacQuitty (The Times)

94 POINTS (James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion)
"Excellent release. Aflame with personality, regionality and life. It's dusty, curranty, shows elements of gun smoke and gum leaf and swings decisively through the finish. Don't hesitate."

Cabernet Sauvignon has long been recognised as an excellent, consistent variety that performs well in the Clare Valley. The addition of Malbec adds to the complexity of the mid-palate contributing violet, mulberry, added texture and richness, resulting in a full-bodied wine with generous chalky tannins.
Twenty four months in French oak provides depth and balance to this style which is dominated by juicy ripe plum, fresh blackcurrant and oak aromas and flavours.
Feel content cellaring this Cabernet Malbec for at least ten years in good conditions.

A fabulous new release from Tim Adams, the 2013 Schaefer Shiraz was crafted from specially selected grapes produced on a single vineyard originally planted in the 1960s. The dry grown grapes yield between one and two tonnes per acre, producing fruit with elegance and rich fruit flavours.
Twenty four months in new French oak provides perfume, spice and balance to the wine, which is dominated by aromas and flavours of dark red cherries, plums and red berries. Patient cellaring will be rewarded, with potential to improve for up to 20 years.

This is arguably the best vintage of this wine for some time, certainly since 2010 and probably longer. . It's a wonderful Australian red, ready to drink now and one that will improve in the bottle for more than a decade (that is, if you've more patience than me!) It's rich and full-bodied, with all the classic blackberry / mulberry / violet aromas and flavours typical of Tim Adams' Shiraz and a long, lingering finish.

"I often think of The Aberfeldy as the Clare Valley's Grange. Aside from the fact that it's from a single region and much less than one tenth of the price. It's a flagship wine that's easy enough to enjoy now, or much later. Blackberry, dark cherry, cloves, sage, coconut, dark mint chocolate, spice - it's all go. Full-bodied, lush smooth tannin, silky feel with rich fruit, backed with toasty spiced oak. Smooth powdery tannin carries the fiinish long and while there's a little warmth, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Does that make sense? Well,at least it sounds impressive. As is the wine. 94 points. Drink 2015-2028" Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 20 Oct 2015

Tim Adams Wines

"Tim 'Bonecrusher' Adams produces some of the best value, most flavoursome reds and whites, not just in the Clare Valley, but in the whole of Australia." Anthony Rose (The Independent)

THE STORY
Tim Adams and his wife Pam are currently producing the best value wines coming out of Australia. Produced from both their own vineyards and a group of fiercely loyal local growers whose vineyards are sited in varying microclimates right across the valley, they are sweeping all before them.

Principal varieties processed are Shiraz, Semillon, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Grenache. Wine styles are traditional, being dry whites made from Riesling and Semillon and medium to full bodied reds made from Grenache, Shiraz and Cabernet.

In 2006, the 2006 Tim Adams Clare Valley Riesling (see below) won the Hyatt Riesling Trophy in Canberra for Best Riesling in competition with 458 Rieslings from all over the world. Last year The Fergus won two International WINE Challenge trophies, while The Shiraz has won several IWC Gold Medals over the last few years. This year his 2007 Semillon won the International Semillon Trophy in the 2008 International Wine Challenge.
Is there no end to this boy's talent - trophies for both red and white wine in succesive years!
