"94 points. This release marks the 49th vintage for Bobbie Burns. The secret to its longevity is its honesty, which is nicely expressed here. It is right in the medium-weighted, down-to-earth, totally accessible, classic Aussie shiraz style. Solid in dark fruits, discreet in oak, awash in tingling, woodsy spice and melded together by fine tannins. Length is assured, the pleasure factor high." Jenni Port (James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion)

There can’t be too many wineries that have celebrated their 150th year of family winemaking on the same patch of ground. That was the case for the Campbells family in Rutherglen, north-east Victoria, in 2020.

The 2018 vintage saw the 49th release of the Bobbie Burns Shiraz which is still produced from the original Bobbie Burns Vineyard planted by John Campbell in 1870 and subsequently replanted with disease-resistant vines over time.

It’s deep dark red with purple hues.  The nose has real depth, almost brooding, with dark plums and blackberry perfectly integrated with the more elegant characters of black pepper and aniseed. A hint of spicy oak sits in the background.

A powerful wine, exploding with flavour of summer pudding, blackberries and spiced plums. It is full bodied and beautifully structured with layers of fine tannin and complementary characters of liquorice, ironstone and cocoa. Smooth and seamless, it is supported by subtle French oak, vibrant, silky tannins and a long finish.

Enjoyable Shiraz experience

First time ordering from AustralianWineCentre, good service, quick delivery and lots of email support. Best of all, the Campbell Bobbie Burns Shiraz is an enjoyable mid-range Shiraz, with all the classic fruit forward and good mouthfeel you would expect from a good Australian Shiraz. Overall an enjoyable experience.
